Your inner child is a magical thing, it's the thing that keeps you grounded, zestful, and aligned. The inner child sparks innocence, curiosity, and a sense of adventure, as well as passion, vitality, and vulnerability.

The inner child is a symbol for aspirations and joy- following your heart’s desires while being courageous to explore new horizons and be excited, yet mindful for life.

Main Symbolism for Mindfulness:

  1. Innocence, vulnerability, and naivety

  2. Following your highest joys

  3. Trust and surrender…

  4. Adventure and travel

  5. Passion, vitality, and stepping into the Unknown

  6. Self-development, personal growth, and self-evolution

  7. Learning through challenges and failures

THE INNER CHILD AND ASTROLOGY

The inner child in relation to learning to live a more mindful and meaningful life can be explored with astrology. We each have an inner child, and what better way to learn and evolve through one of the most powerful divinatory and ancient healing systems available?!

In our natal charts, we have every planet falling in a sign. This means that although your sun sign might be Leo, your other planetary placements will fall in a number of other signs.

So, we can learn about the “inner child” characteristics of each star sign to make sense of our own needs, wants, passions, desires, blocks, challenges, and personality traits.

Remember that Grace offers Dream and Astrology services, as well ghostwriting (article, blog content, website, your e/book...). ✨★✨✧✨

ARIES: The Ram + Child

Aries is actually the sign of the infant, child, and teenager (in a lower vibration) who acts out. Aries can be impulsive, impatient, and very quick to anger; throwing temper tantrums and becoming explosive when they don’t have their needs met.

Aries is childish, immature, reckless, attention-seeking, selfish, and very narcissistic (it’s all about “me!”)  Thus, they represent the unhealed and unevolved inner child

Aries strengths include: innovation, originality, bravery, courage, loyalty, honesty, passion, vitality, enthusiasm, and independence. Their glyph is the Ram, so a more evolved Aries is a fearless leader and innovator who lives with self-authority and passion.

Aries' energy teaches us how to be confident, brave, and expressive, moreover adventurous and open-minded. These are key qualities of the inner child.

The inner child represents the magic of synchronicity, which is Aries at their best, being so innovative, independent, and resourceful… who can step into self-leadership without issue or fear.

TAURUS: The Bull + Lover

Taurus is the benevolent and modest earth sign ruled by Venus, which makes them deeply sensual, romantic, and pleasure-seeking. Venus is the ‘lover’ of the zodiac, and this describes a core component of the inner child.

The Lovers is a symbol for our inner child’s need for fun, joy, and pleasure. Intimacy is not just sexual; Venus may be the planet of divine love and feminine sexuality, but she also represents beauty, sensitivity, and nurturance.

Children navigate the world with open minds and open hearts, which is how conscious awareness is developed. Taurus’ energy inspires depth, soul, and harmony- they’re kind, selfless, and generous with supremely helpful natures.

Like a young adult who ventures into the unknown, our inner childs like to be of service. Charity, humanitarianism, and altruism define the Taurus personality.

But, they can also be hedonistic- overly pleasure seeking! And this causes practical and material problems. Like children who are immature and without life experience, Taurus at a lower vibration symbolizes stubbornness, greed, and stagnation- not wanting to “grow up.”

GEMINI: The Twins + Duality

The first sign of duality, Gemini represents our internal struggle and battle: which direction do I go, what’s the right decision, and how can I choose between all of these different possibilities?

Infinite opportunities and enthusiasm are available with Gemini. Gemini strengths include: bright mindedness, innovation, originality, fun, joy, optimism, adaptability, charm, open-mindedness, and powerful intellect, wit, logic, higher reasoning, imagination, and intuition.

Be careful of indecision, gossip, and false speech if you have any planets in Gemini. The inner child requires maturity and honesty to thrive and prosper, which is an evolved Gemini.

CANCER: The Crab + Empath

Cancers are the great nurturers of the zodiac, the sensitive and selfless caregivers who live with real unconditional love. They’re compassionate, gentle, and soft-hearted, but equally protective.

This signifies our instinctive drive, the need to protect, nurture, and find deeper intimacy and connection. There’s also a strong sense of hyper-emotionalism and super-sensitivity, being irrational and lashing out on others in explosive and dramatic ways (when threatened).

So, similar to Aries, Cancer teaches us how to mature and communicate with others mindfully, rationally, and consciously. This sign is the inner child at its most motherly, caring, and compassion.

Cancer reminds us to stay protective and empathic without neglecting the funner, passionate, and upbeat aspects of life.

LEO: The Lion + Leader

Leos are natural born-leaders, totally gregarious, charming, sociable, and friendly. They’re passionate, extroverted, and dominant with highly charismatic and optimistic personalities.

But, they can also be bossy, egotistical, and narcissistic- real bullies, in truth. They like to make their authority and power known, so there are many lessons here. Leo rules the 5th house in astrology, of play, fun, romance, drama, creativity, and children.

So, this is one of the signs best representing the inner child. Leo’s shine (light/ strengths) and shadow (dark/ weaknesses) can help you navigate internal needs and struggles.

Leo helps us be generous and regal while keeping our egos in check.

VIRGO: The Virgin + Perfectionist

At their best, Virgo is a hard-working, disciplined, committed, practical, and modest saint, with strong levels of humility, empathy, kindness, helpfulness, and emotional intelligence.

At their worst, they are cynical and bossy perfectionists- a real sign of immaturity, who believe they know best, every single time! They believe they’re always right, intellectually and psychologically superior, and innocent in life (victimhood).

Virgo’s message is to embrace our need to be seen as respectful and trustworthy in society, while overcoming extreme perfectionism, cynicism, and an overuse of analytical and rational thinking. Instincts and feelings should be balanced with mental gifts.

SCORPIO: The Scorpion + Psychic

Scorpios are some of the most spiritual, psychic, and clairvoyant people of this world. They're intuitive, caring, creative, empathic, and very artistically gifted, as well as hard-working and ambitious beyond belief.

But, they can be manipulative, moody, and withdrawn, prone to extreme bouts of solitude and isolation. This is an inevitable stage of the inner child’s journey towards maturity and adulthood.

The lesson is to alchemize sensitivities and intensity, so we don’t let our emotions and feelings get the better of us. Scorpio is the sign of self-mastery when at their best.

SAGITTARIUS: The Archer + Philosopher

Your inner child is alive and well with a Sagittarius placement! Sagittarius (Sag) is the more humble and innocent version of Aries and Leo. Like these two fire signs, Sag is passionate, excitable, fun-loving, companionable, and warm-hearted.

Yet, they aren’t as egotistical or drama-loving and attention-seeking. Sagittarius can be selfish, narcissistic, blunt, self-righteous, and infuriatingly positive (overly optimistic), but this makes them a happy and lucky individual

Innocence and sincerity are key, so Sag is here to show us how to live with fun and humor without neglecting responsibilities, commitments, and practicalities (Sag’s shadow, when unevolved and younger).

CAPRICORN: The Goat + Controller

Self-controlled (positive) and a total control freak (negative), Capricorn teaches us how to live with order, structure, and boundaries. This tenacious and headstrong earth sign represents all the practical and material aspects of life.

Key strengths include: devotion, discipline, practicality, responsibility, duty, providing, protecting, commitment, modesty, order, structure, loyalty, confidence, determination, perseverance, hard work, and ambition.

However, Capricorn is emotionally distant and detached, not wanting to accept vulnerabilities and deeper feelings. This teaches our inner child how to mature with responsibility without becoming repressed emotionally or spiritually

AQUARIUS: The Water-Bearer + Rebel

Aquarius is the rebel without a cause, so this is a great sign to learn about for inner child healing and mindfulness. Aquarius is a leader and independent innovator at a higher frequency, yet, at a lower vibration, they are reckless, immature, and very impulsive.

Aquarius loves to travel, socialize, and meet new people, while being innovative and original. This shows us how to be brave and courageous, stepping into new opportunities and experiences; key symbolism of the inner child.

This cerebral air sign has problems with their emotions, feelings, and depth- they lack authenticity in this realm, which brings the message of: becoming a lone wolf while thinking every man is an island…

This is a false belief system, no man is an island, and this is something every teenager and young adult needs to realize. Aquarius energy inspires togetherness, community, joy, happiness, friendliness, fun, and play.

PISCES: The Fish + Old Souls

The 12th sign and Old Souls, Pisces is the most spiritual, mystical, and multi-talented of all signs. This is because they are a duality sign, ruled by the 12th house (of the soul, endings, and completions), and with the glyph of the Fish.

One fish swims upwards towards the heavens and the other down towards the earth. This brings many qualities and talents into the mix! Pisces is: creative, artistic, imaginative, divine, selfless, empathic, compassionate, gentle, and impressionable.

They’re generous, helpful, much too kind and trusting, naive, sensitive, emotionally intelligent, psychic, seer-like, and intuitive. They lack boundaries and can be moody and gullible, however, also being prone to hyper-emotionalism like the other water signs.

The message? Pisces relates to the creative, artistic, and imaginative inner child, who is unboundaried and without limitation. Neptune, their ruling planet, symbolizes dreams, psychic instincts, spirituality, mysticism, and illusions.

Positively, this leads to extraordinary creativity and inner genius, as well as being able to pull wisdom and universal truths & ideas out of the blue. This sign is tuned into divinity. Negatively, a lack of boundaries can create practical and material issues and blocks.

Pisces is ultimately the divine spark and creative zest inside of us all, despite their follies.
